Looking for Osteopathy in Lisbon?
Do you live in Lisbon, experience the stress of an urban lifestyle and want to relieve pain or discomfort through osteopathy? At Shift You, we aim to help you manage stress and the various effects it may have on your health.
Osteopathic treatment works with areas of the spine associated with the nervous system, helping to promote balance. It may also use techniques intended to reduce muscular tension and certain restrictions affecting the digestive and respiratory systems.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a non-invasive manual therapy intended to restore lost mobility and promote balance within the musculoskeletal, craniosacral and visceral systems. The craniosacral system includes the tissues surrounding and supporting the spine, from the head to the coccyx, while the visceral system relates to the internal organs.
Changes in the body’s mobility can cause restrictions that affect the function of certain areas. These may involve simple movements, such as tying your shoes or reaching a high shelf, or more complex physical activities. Over time, these restrictions may contribute to more persistent injury or health problems.
Rather than focusing exclusively on the area causing the symptoms, an osteopath uses manual techniques to address the different systems of the body and promote an overall sense of well-being.

HOW THE SESSIONS WORK
Personalised support designed around you.
Each appointment lasts 50 minutes. The number of sessions required will depend on each patient’s individual circumstances.
- Assessment: The osteopath will discuss the patient’s health concerns, listen and take notes where necessary. A manual physical assessment is then performed to evaluate the condition of the tendons, ligaments and other tissues;
- Treatment: Treatment is provided using manual techniques intended to restore lost mobility and promote balance within the musculoskeletal, craniosacral and visceral systems;
- Aftercare: Osteopathy places considerable importance on the body’s recovery. The osteopath may therefore recommend dietary adjustments, exercises to perform at home or lifestyle changes.
